Workplace Injuries In Connecticut Above National Average

Though employers often complain about government regulation, most of us agree that such regulation is necessary when it comes to worker safety. At least in Connecticut, such safety measures may be paying off. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that there was a reduction of workplace injuries in our state for 2014. However, the bureau also pointed out that Connecticut continues to lag behind the national average in terms of preventing workers’ injuries.

According to their reporting, there were 3.5 incidents for every 100 full-time employees in Connecticut in 2014 (this does not include government work sites). This was down from the 3.8 injury incidents per 100 occurring in the prior year. With Maine having the highest rate of injuries and Louisiana having the lowest, the national average was 3.2 incidents for every 100 workers across the nation in 2014.
